Mission Statement

Most of us are struggling with rising costs and stagnant wages. Meanwhile, billionaires and corporations hoard wealth, buy politicians, and rig the rules against working people. This situation isn’t an accident, it’s the intended design of the system. There will be no improvement if billionaires and corporations continue their corrosive hold on our society and call all the shots.

The current establishment will not turn this situation around. Politicians promise “fixes” that involve tinkering around the edges with incremental changes, but band-aid solutions won’t stop the bleeding. While reforms for the working class people must be fought for and won, any improvements will eventually be sabotaged. We need to uproot this broken system and build something new to survive.

We are the Democratic Socialists of Corvallis. We organize for a society where working-class people own and collectively control resources we all rely on, like housing, healthcare, food, and jobs. We organize a society where we all live with dignity. This society is possible if we unite to dismantle the system rigged against us.

Our current fight? Making housing a human right in Corvallis. Society treats housing like an investment, producing expensive housing that prices out families while enriching investors. This causes most people to be rent-burdened, or even without shelter. We are pushing to decriminalize homelessness and rent-control measures in the short term. In the long term, we are pushing for massive social housing efforts, much like those in Vienna, where half the city lives in affordable, city-owned housing.

Join us. Another world isn’t just possible, it is necessary. Let’s build it together and create a future where everyone lives with dignity.
